Dr. ir. Fred Veer is an Associate Professor of Material Science at the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. He holds a PhD and a MSc in Materials science. He joined TU Delft as a student in Materials Science engineering in 1983, graduating in 1988. Immediately afterwards, Fred started on a PhD in the topic of metal fatigue at TU Delft, defending the thesis in 1993. After doing some post-doc work he joined the faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment as assistant professor in 1994. In 2007 Fred was appointed associate professor and in 2017 he was awarded IUS Promovendi.
Dr. ir. Fred Veer teaches in BSc and MSc level and supervises MSc theses at building technology, building engineering and materials science engineering. His research interests focus particularly on the mechanical properties and innovative applications of glass, as well as other aspects of glass engineering, such as fractography. He is also interested in the eco-design in architectural engineering. Fred has authored/co-authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications.
