About
The DE-CIST project is a collaborative effort involving TU Delft, Erasmus University of Rotterdam, the Institute of Housing and Urban Development Studies, the Resilient Delta Initiative, the Erasmus Centre for Data Analytics, and the City of Rotterdam. The overarching goal is to shape a sustainable future for our urban environments. Within this ambitious initiative, AiDAPT Lab (part of the TU Delft AI Labs & Talent programme) aims to craft cutting-edge AI solutions enabling intelligent decision-making for building energy retrofit applications.
These solutions are designed to transform the city of Rotterdam by integrating a rich variety of data, including building-specific information derived from open-source geospatial data, social insights, and climate projections, in a workflow that allows for fast energy assessment at the urban level. Combined into a unified workflow, they facilitate large-scale decision making, as they allow for rapid urban energy assessment while preserving building-level resolution, unlike conventional workflows that rely on aggregated representations.
The resulting AI-driven energy prediction pipeline is coupled with optimization algorithms to generate actionable insights at neighborhood and district levels, amplifying the impact of retrofit strategies and accelerating deep decarbonization across the city.
