Impurities and glass mixtures can in turn be embraced as design characteristics, enabling wider use of recycled glass and shifting glass’s perception: flaws, textures and colouration from the recycling process can become part of glass’s materiality, design and expression. This versatility is showcased in a totem sculpture made from cast glass elements from a variety of waste sources, including PV panel glass, medical vials and lightbulbs.
