Justin is a trained as an architect and engineer who is reading for a PhD following several years in private practice. His professional career forked as he developed an interest and background in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). Along this trajectory, a growing interest in the potential use of digital technologies within DRR saw him propose novel methods of using the language embedded in building permits to augment urban exposure models.

His research now focuses on the building of digital systems to support multi-criteria analyses of the potential risks facing urban environments.
