Rebecca Hartwell (University of Cambridge)

Rebecca is a PhD candidate at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Dr. Rob Foster and Professor Mauro Overend (TU Delft). She recently submitted her PhD thesis following a research position in partnership with TU Delft and Permasteelisa Group. Rebecca holds a Masters in Material Science and Engineering (MEng) from the University of Manchester which included a 1-year industry placement at Siemens Magnet Technology. After graduating, Rebecca worked as a Research Assistant at the International Centre for Advanced Materials investigating the role of microstructure in the failure of composite natural materials. Her current PhD research examines the role of material efficiency in glass and façade design. This has involved working with industry and academia to develop the knowledge, tools, and technologies to promote the effective reuse and high-value recycling of building envelopes. Rebecca also conducts independent research consultancy.
